Previewing the final week, and men's tournament

Looking at the last week of games, as teams jockey  for  playoff  positioning, it is interesting,  when we did the schedule  we tried to  schedule the better teams  to play each other and the lower end  teams to play each other  thus hopefully producing more  competitive,  closer  games.
Well with one week left,  there are 10  teams within one game of  .500.
The  top spot is secured by Lake Nokomis, and the bottom spot is secured by the scrappy Anoka team. Everything else is still up for grabs.
If I can get the results in we will have the tournament schedule out by Thursday night,  Friday Morning at the latest.
The tournament games will all be on Thursday nights.   May 2,  all qualifying teams will play one game  in the round of 16.   May 9  will have the  quarter finals at  7 and 8,  and the semi finals at 9  at  locations  to be determined  according to who is playing.  If 3 of the 4  teams in a bracket are from a particular stake we will play at that location.    May 16,  7:00 will be the championship game at  Minneapolis  unless both teams are from another stake. (the  young men's  championship was at Anoka,  volleyball championships were at St. Paul,  so we will have the  championship at Minneapolis unless both teams are from another stake.)
Thanks for a wonderful season so far.

Whistle Rap

Just a  reminder on  Refereeing  mechanics,  I know it is nice to have one referee  stay at one end of the court for the whole half,  than switch,  However  the proper mechanics is to switch  sides as often as it is convenient.  When a shooting foul is called as one  referee  gives the numbers of the player  who committed the foul  to the table the other referee  gets the other players  set up, and lets the subs in if they are ready,   that  is also a  great time to switch. During time outs,  or when the ball is passed in from the sideline. This prevents a  team  from learning a  referee's tendencies and  use that to their unfair advantage.
Again we  sure  appreciate  your service as referee's I think considering the circumstances  our  officiating  is  very good,  and what makes it work, the only way it works, is for the players to  show  respect and appreciation  and understanding  for these volunteers  helping out.   Thanks again.

Referee assignments for the last two weeks,

Since the  young men's season is done,  we have moved the men's games up to 7:00  start time,  So  the   teams playing at 8:00  must bring  one  referee,  a  second  player to keep books and clock would be wonderful but not mandatory,   than the teams that play at 7:00    each  send two  guys to ref and keep the books/clock.

If you play at:
7:00  you ref at  8:00
8:00   you  ref at 7:00 and 9:00
9:00 you ref at  10:00
10  you  clean up the building
