Futsol: After 4 weeks we are still not sure how many teams we have... oh well, But in the second year things have changed as they do from year to year with the young men.
Last year's champions, TC1 (Spanish) ward, which dominated graduated several key players and although they still play with the seasoned court savey they lack the experience of last years team.
Just a rules clarification at the meeting we decided if a ward has Baptized members who play high school soccer, they are allowed to play in our league. The reason is that we have decided that Futsol is a different sport than Soccer. (since high school players are not allowed to play in other leagues of the same sport at the same time)
In basketball after the high school season was over we allowed Baptized members to play but only one on the court at a time.
For Futsol for now we are allowing several Baptized high school players on the court at a time.
If anyone is interested in getting their own ball, they are available on Amazon/com for $11 plus shipping
Volleyball:
With the move of a couple key players the balance of power has shifted. With Brian Peniata moving to the Elk River ward, Elk River from the St. Cloud stake has joined and is the early favorites.
Last year's champion's, the Hmong ward (TC2) returns with their precision team work and court coverage, The Creeks, Blaine, SVNB and MG are threats. As always it all depends who shows up for a team on a given day.
I apologize for taking so long with the whole season schedule but after 4 weeks I am still trying to see if a couple wards are in or out.... life in the SAMS world.... I hope to have it by game time this week.
Put it on the Calendar. We will have the Futsol season done by Thanks giving. The volleyball regular season will end the week before Thanks Giving with the tournament the two weeks after Thanks Giving Dec. 1 & 8.
