The committee is in an agreement that Undefeated Eden Prairie who combined with Minnetonka, is definitely the team to beat, Many players played for last year's champions Minnetonka. They have size, balance, speed good shooting, they share the ball and play good defense.
The committee also agrees that there are 7 teams that on a given night can upset them.
MGB, SC, EC, Med. Lake virtually finished tied for second and can give EP a run for their money, MGA, Plymouth and Andover are the dark horses in this race. This is shaping up to be a very tight well balanced tournament.
Good luck to all.

YM tournament rules
The Mormon madness begins!
Just a reminder of the eligibility rules for the young men.
1) Baptized members who were 17 years old as of Aug 31st 2014, or are still in high school are eligible to play in the tournament even if they have not played during the regular season. Assuming permission by the Bishop and an agreement that the player will comply with the rules of good sportsmanship.
2) Baptized member who's ward does not have a team is eligible to play on any team that has room for them. However these "free agent" members must have played at least one game during the regular season.
3) Non-members who are living in the same household as a member is considered a "member" for sports purposes.
4) Non- members, who did not play high school ball this year ,(10th-12th grades, A-F squads) must have played at least one regular season game to be eligible for the tournament.
5) High school players, who's season is done, who are Baptized members of their home ward may play in the tournament, However if must be for their own ward. Should a ward have more than one high school player, only one is allowed on the court at a time.
6) No more than 2 non-members on the court at a time.
7) Before each tournament game we should go over these rules and point out to the teams and referee's who are non-members, and who has played High school ball.
8) We really want these rules to be self policed. We really really really want to avoid the situation where we play a game, the game is over, and than someone points out that a player from the winning team is ineligible. It is totally unfair to the non-members and reflects poorly on the church.
9) Good luck and lets have a great tournament!
10) ONE LAST RULE CHANGE, should the game to to the second, sudden death period, if free throws are rewarded, the player will only shoot ONE FREE THROW for the win.

25,000!
For those of you scoring at home this "experimental" blog, started two and a half years ago just passed 25,000 hits!
We got a very curious email last week from a guy named "Mutar" saying he was just called to be their stake athletic director and he had stumbled across our blog and was very intrigued, he asked about our golf league, how many players from each ward etc. He was also interested in knowing if we played "futar" which is indoor soccer. I am very curious as to where Mutar is from, thus the blog has been viewed by more than just us players.
Just for your information the web sight address for our blog and our companion Anokastakesports (our female blog) have been sent to Salt Lake church Archives, serious! Not sure who will see it but if your team has won, if your picture is on the blog it can be seen for generations.

How to find full year schedule
I have heard some people are having trouble seeing the full season schedule... each device is different, but if you go to the blog sight and click on "2015 SAMS LDS men's/young men's basketball schedule"
sometimes the schedule pops right up,
sometimes you have to click "Sheet 1"
Just for fun sheet 4 shows the grid, looking at your team name on the left hand column and as you read across the numbers represent the week you play the team on the top row.
We suggest you continually check the schedule because sometimes we have to make last minute tweaks to the schedule to accommodate ward temple trips, ministering nights, teams dropping out etc.
thanks

Week 9 schedule tweak
Not sure if anyone printed off copies of the full year schedule but Week 9, March 19th, the teams are the same but we had to move the games around to accommodate a ministering night for one of the wards. Sorry for any inconvenience. What you see on the blog now is the updated schedule.
